Zwischenfazit zum Zanders Gelände in Bergisch Gladbach(A short conclusion about the Zanders site)

Spontaner besuch beim Zanders Gelände. Seit Wochen wollte ich dorthin, hatte es aber nicht geschafft. Habe oft gelesen, das einiges dort nun geschehen ist, das sich vieles tut.

Ehrliche Meinung vorweg : Ich war ein wenig Enttäuscht. Nicht weil nichts geschehen ist, sondern weil ich irgendwo gelesen habe, das das Gelände nun mehr geöffnet wurde für die Öffentlichkeit. Und dem war jetzt nicht so. Im gegenteil : es gab eine Sperrung und eine Umleitung. Den Grund kenne ich nicht, gehe aber davon aus , das es sich um Verletzungsgefahr handelt, oder das in naher Zeit ein Gebäude abgerissen wird. Einige Gebäude sind mit sicherheit nicht mehr begehbar.

Doch der Entäuschung folgte sehr schnell die freudige Überraschung, das sich im mittleren bereich, dort wo nun die Feuerwehr ihre Räume hat, sehr viel getan hat.

A spontaneous visit to the Zanders site

For weeks I had wanted to go there, but somehow never managed to make it. I had often read that things had started to change there and that a lot was happening.

My honest opinion right away: I was a little disappointed. Not because nothing had happened, but because somewhere I had read that the area had been opened more to the public.

That wasn’t the case.

On the contrary: there was a barrier and a detour. I don’t know the exact reason, but I assume it’s because of safety concerns or because a building might be demolished in the near future. Some of the buildings are certainly no longer safe to enter.

But the disappointment quickly turned into a pleasant surprise. In the middle section of the site — where the fire department now has its facilities — quite a lot has changed.

Wenn man Richtung Innenstadt schaut, vom Feuerwehr Gebäude, sieht man das viele Spielplatz Anlagen schon vorhanden sind. Sogar eine Half-Pipe für Skater steht schon dort.

When you look toward the city center from the fire department building, you can see that many playground areas are already in place. There is even a half-pipe for skaters.

Was einem dort direkt auffällt : Es ist so Ruhig dort. Obwohl mitten in der Stadt, ist es so schön Ruhig und Friedlich. Das wird natürlich nicht so bleiben, wenn erstmal das Areal freigegeben wird und die Kinder und Jugendlichen dort spielen. Doch ich freue mich für die Kinder und Jugendlichen, das sie so einen schönen Ort bekommen. Ist schon cool so einen Platz.

One thing you notice immediately: it is very quiet there. Even though it is right in the middle of the city, it feels calm and peaceful. Of course, that will probably change once the area is fully opened and children and teenagers start playing there.

But I’m happy for them that they will have such a nice place to spend time. It’s pretty cool to have a spot like that.

Bin auf ende des Jahres gespannt, was dann dort alles schon fertig ist. Es ist noch vieles zutun im Zanders Gelände. Doch ich finde die Stadt macht das ganz gut. Dieser Ort ist einmalig.

I’m curious to see what will already be finished there by the end of the year. There is still a lot of work to be done at the Zanders site. But I think the city is doing a pretty good job. This place is truly unique.
